Optimised design of soil reinforcement layout

The analysis of mechanically stabilised earthworks using geosynthetic reinforcements is typically addressed by means a limit equilibrium or finite-element analysis. However, the design reinforcement layout and strength generally specified based on guidance experience. Limit analysis, in particular discontinuity optimisation (DLO) presents an alternative for both reinforced slopes. current study novel automated approach determining optimum any given earthwork geometry. In this paper, modified formulation DLO termed ‘reinforcement optimisation’ presented that able to find minimum tensile reinforcing material optimal required stability system initial domain. Examples are slope problem compared with conventional guidance.
